Our history

No.192 Oxford is located on Iffley Road, one of the city’s principal thoroughfares, created in the 19th century following the Oxford Paving Act. Originally known as Henley Road, it formed part of the turnpike route from Oxford to London via Henley-on-Thames.

As Oxford grew, Iffley Road became a major arterial route, leading from the Plain, near beautiful Magdalen Bridge, towards the idyllic village of Iffley. Located nearby is the Oxford University athletics venue, Iffley Road Track, where Roger Bannister made history in 1954 by running the world’s first sub-four-minute mile.

To this day

During the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic, Ede Homes acquired 192 Iffley Road in 2020 with a vision to refresh the property for a new era of travel. Recognising the ever-changing needs of guests due to lockdowns and travel restrictions, the building was thoughtfully transformed into a boutique hotel with automated check in.

The Edge Hotel Group proudly opened No.192 Oxford in 2021; introducing a seamless hotel experience in which visitors could pass through the city without the need for face-to-face interaction, all the while enjoying a cosy and considered environment. With 12 wonderful rooms and convenient amenities, No.192 Oxford offers a comfortable and well-connected base for those visiting the historic City of Oxford.
